Vancouver Public Library is looking to host a resident graphic novelist between Aug. 28 and Dec.15, 2017.
The Writer in Residence will develop exciting public programs and provide advice to emerging writers through one-to-one consultations and group workshops, as well as outreach to targeted communities.

The award ceremony for the 34th Alcuin Awards for Excellence in Book Design in Canada will take place September 22 in Vancouver, with tickets open to the public. The event is co-sponsored by the Alcuin Society and Emily Carr University of Art + Design. Registration is free at Eventbrite.

Place: Emily Carr University of Art + Design Auditorium – Room 301 South Building, 1400 Johnston Street (Granville Island) – Vancouver
As well as the award presentation, the Society will present a panel on Graphic Storytelling. This will be moderated by Robin McConnell, host of the Inkstuds podcast.
The panelists are:
- Nick Bantock – author/illustrator of the Griffin and Sabine Trilogy
- Sarah Leavitt – author/illustrator of the graphic memoir, Tangles: A Story About Alzheimer’s, My Mother, and Me
- Johnnie Christmas – author/illustrator of Firebug; illustrator of Margaret Atwood’s graphic novel, Angel Catbird
