In 2015, we hosted the fifth PKP Scholarly Publishing Conference from August 11-14, 2015. Participants will be given the opportunity to engage on the topics related to building open infrastructure and programs for digital humanities, publishing, and libraries.
BCreative 2012 was an international conference on the Creative Industries and their economic contribution to society. More than 150 people attended two days of panels, plenaries, roundtables and keynotes, with some of the the leading thinkers locally and internationally.
The program also co-sponsored the Mini-Tools of Change Vancouver Conference with O’Reilly Media and the Centre for Digital Media. Mini-TOC Vancouver was the first O’Reilly Media event in Canada and showcased the established and emerging publishing and digital media talent on the west coast. Feedback from the two day event in October ranged from “Mini-TOC Vancouver hit it out of the park!” to “I never knew the Vancouver area had so much happening here! We definitely need these types of events so we can see what each other is doing. Well done!”
In 2013, we were very pleased to host the first National Indigenous Writers Conference (October 19-20). This exciting two-day participant-driven conference focused on the representation and recognition of Aboriginal writers in Canada. Day one featured panel and roundtable discussions, followed by a second day of professional development workshops on creating book proposals, developing an author platform, and getting published.
