Alcuin Society talk by George Walker

The Alcuin Society is bringing George Walker, celebrated book artist and wood engraver, to Vancouver on March 17. George Walker will give a reprise of the talk on visual narratives he gave last fall to the Arts & Letters Club of Toronto. This talk is a kick-off to the Society’s 34th annual book design competition, taking place on Saturday, March 19th.

He will bring his book, The Wordless Leonard Cohen Songbook, which won a First in Limited Editions in last year’s Alcuin competition. As well, he will have his newest book, Pierre Elliott Trudeau: La vie en rose—of which there are only 12 copies—which will participate in this year’s competition. This may be the only opportunity for Vancouverites to see these original works. Smaller, but lovely, trade editions published by Porcupine’s Quill will be available for purchase and signing by the author.
