President’s Dream Colloquium on Engaging Big Data

Every day, every little piece of data we create contributes to a larger picture — one that reveals important details about our public selves and private lives. There is an emerging struggle and a pressing need to access and mobilize big data in the public interest.

Please join us for a fascinating lecture series on the ethics of big data, whether in health care or politics, finance or science, and how the use of community-based big data can help solve real world problems in the public sphere.

Established in 2011, the President’s Dream Colloquium is an initiative to bring leading thinkers to SFU and provide an annual forum for intensive interdisciplinary exchange amongst faculty and students in the form of a graduate course. Composed of three modules from January 12–March 22, the Spring 2016 colloquium will feature high profile guest speakers who are thought-leaders in the field. Presentations from all guest speakers will be open to the public, along with an associated discussion session.
