Vancouver Poetry House seeks Executive Director
Vancouver Poetry House is looking for a new Executive Director. The candidate should have experience in literary and spoken word poetry communities with a nonprofit background. The current Executive Director, Chris Gilpin, will be available to assist in the transition of the new ED becoming acclimated to the position.
Duties include:

Facilitating communications between the board of directors, the staff, and the general public.

Carrying out day-to-day operations, including banking, accounts payable, supervising programs, and maintaining the nonprofit and charitable status of the organization.

Maintaining relationships with funders, including writing grants, reports, and identifying new funding opportunities. Also, anticipating funding shortfalls for any program and finding alternate funding sources.

Managing the Verses Festival of Words, including budgeting, box office management, funding, and logistics.

Acting as a spokesperson for VPH, promoting poetry as an art form and raising the profile of the organization, engaging in outreach and audience development.
Qualifications include:

Knowledge of nonprofit organizations.

Interest in spoken word poetry.

Experience in grant writing for organizations.

Experience in budgeting in Excel.

Experience with event planning and project management.
-
Willingness to process input from many sources before making decisions.

Web and social media skills are a plus.
This position involves a monthly honorarium.
