Figure 1 Publishing finds niche with business books imprint

The Vancouver Sun published an in-depth profile about Figure 1’s new imprint. Chris Labonté and Richard Nadeau recently launched Figure 1 Business, a division of their Figure 1 Publishing, dedicated to business books. The Figure 1 Business imprint addresses a gap Labonté and Nadeau saw in the market for business memoirs and corporate histories.

“As multinational publishers focus more on celebrity authors, well-written books “that should be published because they have something valuable, new, and useful to convey to Canadians” are ignored, Labonté said.”

The article also details how the Figure 1 publishing model differs from traditional legacy publishing: “Figure 1 employs three financial models: traditional publishing, entrepreneurial publishing, and corporate partnerships.”
